Pediatric Nursery Hospitalist – Greenville, SC
Prisma Health, the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in South Carolina, is seeking Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pediatricians to join our growing Neonatal Hospitalist team at Prisma Health Patewood Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.
Patewood is one of South Carolina’s highest-volume delivery hospitals, with approximately 4,000 deliveries annually. Our physicians care for newborns in a busy Level I nursery and an expanding Level II Special Care Nursery, which is growing from four to ten beds. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team caring for a large and diverse newborn population while helping shape the continued growth of neonatal services at Patewood.
Position Details
- 24/7 in-house physician coverage with 12-hour shifts
- Flexible scheduling options with a combination of day and night coverage
- Provide comprehensive routine newborn care and newborn rounding
- Attend high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal stabilization and resuscitation
- Manage infants admitted to the Level II Special Care Nursery
- Recognize and stabilize critically ill newborns and coordinate transfer to higher-level neonatal care when indicated
- Perform neonatal procedures within scope of practice and demonstrated competency, including airway management and vascular access
- Perform newborn circumcisions
- Work collaboratively with nursing, respiratory therapy, obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, anesthesia, and regional neonatology teams
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, simulation, and continued development of Patewood’s neonatal program
- Opportunity to teach medical students
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics
- Eligible for medical licensure in South Carolina
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Strong neonatal resuscitation and acute-care skills
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical judgment
